Meet Our Team

CHIEF COUNSELOR:

Sanket Nagarkar, DDS, MPH, CAGS (Dental Public Health)

Dr Sanket Nagarkar is the founder and Director of International Dentists US. He graduated from Nair Hospital Dental College in 2002. After practicing and teaching in Pune for a few years, he decided to pursue higher education in the United States. Subsequently, he completed a Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2009 followed by Residency training in Dental Public Health in 2010 from the New York State Bureau of Dental Health.

He cleared National Boards Dental Examination during his MPH and after multiple application cycles, he received acceptance from the Program for Advanced Standing Students (DDS program for international dentists) at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2011. Since completion of the DDS program, he is full-time private practice with a large group practice in Minnesota and also does part-time research at the University of Minnesota.

Having successfully navigated several aspects of the US education system, Dr Nagarkar is very well versed with the various roadblocks faced by dental students in getting a US dental license. Throughout his career, he has provided valuable guidance to many dental students from India regarding various aspects from preparing for national boards to resume building for successful acceptance to various dental programs across the United States.  

SUBJECT EXPERTS:

Arpit Nirkhiwale, BDS, MS (Prosthodontics)

Dr. Arpit Nirkhiwale is a distinguished leader in dentistry and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Prosthodontics at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Beyond academia, Dr Nirkhiwale also works as a Prosthodontist at a non-profit clinic in Savage, Minnesota. He graduated from Sri Aurobindo College of Dentistry, Indore and subsequently completed his MS in Prosthodontics from University of Florida College of Dentistry where he trained under stalwarts like Dr. Misch and Dr. Anusavice. He further advanced his training during his Implant Fellowship at the UF School of Advanced Dental Sciences, Gainesville, FL. Dr. Nirkhiwale’s impactful career spans academia, practice, research and community service.

Dr. Nirkhiwale’s exceptional understanding of the entire dental application and admission process is rooted in his first-hand experience. His life journey from Indore to Minneapolis is thus marked by significant milestones. After clearing his National Boards Dental Examination, he was accepted at four of the top 10 Prosthodontic Residency Programs in the US. Since 2015, Dr. Nirkhiwale has been a guiding force for numerous international dentists around the world. He has assisted them in realizing their aspirations of successfully practicing dentistry in the USA.

He plays a pivotal role with the Department of Testing Services at the American Dental Association and the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations, contributing to exam development for Integrated National Board of Dental Examination (INBDE), Advanced Dental Admissions Test (ADAT), and Dental Licensure Objective Structured Clinical (DLOSCE) Examinations.

Chaitanya Puranik, BDS, MS (Biomaterials), MDSc (Pediatric Dentistry), PhD (Operative Dentistry)

Dr. Puranik is an Assistant Professor and Director of Predoctoral Education in the department of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Colorado’s School of Dental Medicine. He is also an attending and Residency Program Director (Interim) at the Children’s Hospital Colorado’s Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program. He received his dental degree from the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, India. He completed his Master of Science degree in Dental Biomaterials from The State University of New York at Buffalo. Later, he earned his doctoral degree in Oral Biology and a Certificate in Operative Dentistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH). Dr. Puranik earned his certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Connecticut (UConn). Dr. Puranik completed his postdoctoral fellowship in a Cariology and Craniofacial Biology at UNC-CH and UConn, respectively.

Given these enriched educational experiences at different US Universities and dental schools, Dr. Puranik has in-depth knowledge about various residency and post-doctoral programs. He is also well-versed with specialty dental licensure pathways in various US states and is licensed to practice dentistry in the states of Colorado, Virginia, Texas, and Washington. He has successfully published numerous peer-review abstracts, articles, book chapters, and two innovative US patents. He has also served as a research mentor for more than 50 pre- and post-doctoral dental students on diverse topics such as cariology, dental materials, autism, developmental anomalies, and pedagogy. He is currently working on restorative dental materials that prevent dental plaque and caries while regenerating the dental pulp. He also serves on various leadership positions at the state, national, and international levels including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Dental Education Association.
